Founded in 1997, WBENC is the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled and operated by women. WBENC partners with 14 regional partner organizations to provide a national standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. The group is also the nation’s leading advocate of womenowned businesses as suppliers to America’s corporations.
WBENC is dedicated to advancing the success of corporate members, certified women’s business enterprises and government entities in partnership with its regional partner organizations. Its core values include certifi cation, opportunities and resources. WBENC provides and manages the development, enforcement and implementation of its gold standard of certifi cation, which is nationally accepted by thousands of major corporations and a select group of government entities. According to Prince-Eason, WBENC’s mission is to promote growth of WBEs. “We are constantly working with our corporations, regional partner organizations and women-owned businesses for the most innovative solutions to deliver products and services throughout global supply chains,” she said.
WBENC provides a broad range of resources to corporate members and WBEs, including access to contacts, opportunities, markets, solutions, resources and recognition. They put a spotlight on WBEs to not only recognize their successes, but also invest in the women business community through volunteerism, mentoring, cause-related support benefi ting women and more.
“My advice would be for WBEs and corporations to participate in full with activities that bring WBEs and corporations together to understand corporate needs and to grow WBE businesses in order to meet the corporate needs. From these meetings and dialogue, WBE businesses will continue to grow and stimulate the economy,” Prince-Eason said.
